My first thought upon seeing this coin's reverse was:'that's the weirdest thing I ever saw. It turns out, however, that the design is quite ancient. Known as a triskelion or triskeles, it appears on pottery dating all the way back to the bronze age (1500 BC) and on coins minted hundreds of years before the birth of Christ.
