Henry II 1154-89, Short Cross Penny, Rodbert/Lincoln Class 1b1, Ex Mass & Mossop
A nice example of this Class 1b1 short cross penny struck at Lincoln with Rodbert as moneyer. Worn but reasonably well detailed. Reverse is a little off-centre. Ex Isabella Collection and previously ex Professor J Mass Collection, DNW 16/3/2005, lot 498, ex Baldwin 1988, and ex Mossop 1970, Ba and pl. O: HENRICVS REX, crowned facing head & sceptre held at side. R: RODBERT ON NIC, voided short-cross with quatrefoils in angles. I would grade this coin Fine (Sheldon VF25) I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
