This is the 1887 half penny bronze coin from the United Kingdom. The coin displays the mature bust of Queen Victoria facing left on the obverse and Britannia seated and facing right on the reverse. The coin has the words "VICTORIA:D:G:BRITT:REG:F:D:" surrounding the queen's bust on the obverse.
The reverse is marked "HALF PENNY 1887" surrounding the seated Britannia with the date being below Britannia. This is a beautiful nicely toned coin with great eye appeal. Early British coins such as these are gradually getting more difficult to find especially in such nice grade. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Size and weight: Bronze coin weighs 5.5 gm and is 25 mm in diameter.
References: It is KM #754. Condition: I would grade this beautiful coin a good about uncirculated to uncirculated with beautiful red and brown toning and still having some residual luster. The coin has all of its details well preserved with minimum wear if any.The queen's hair shows great details as do her facial features. The same holds true for Britannia on the reverse. The coin has a few minor scratches and bag marks, but these are minor and do not distract from the beauty and condition of this problem free coin.
The coin has wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. The coin has nice coloring and is problem free. Please see photo for additional condition information. We guarantee the authenticity, description and condition of the items we sell.
