GB QV SG2 1d Penny Grey Black. PLATE 11 with the very scarce RED Maltese Cross. A very clean and sound stamp and very nice appearance does not have any thins or tears.

Rarely offered and is truly a. Rare item in any condition. Margins as per scans, Appears as 4 full margins , however apparently from previous owner I have been told there is some margin restoration to the top of left margin near the NW corner, obviously a very professional restoration as I have struggled to see it and it is not apparent from reverse or from close scrutiny. Hence still a very , very desirable item. Never seen one listed previously at this quality and would imagine this will be the only one for a long time.

Plating proof WILL be provided with this item. I will write a detailed plating proof including references. This item has been confirmed by other dealers/sellers and truly is the "Holy Grail" of penny blacks. Item is priced relative to condition, a full 4 margin example would command the full catalogue due to the scarcity of the item. Basic plating reference: On Plate J-J only plate 11 has both letters extremely high to right, so this item can only be plate 11, other evidence is that the S/E square has been recut at on right hand side , there is also the regular weak right side frame which occurs frequently on pl 11`s, see attached scan from P.

This item has been compared to the Nissen Photographic Plate Library. Only realistic offers will be considered.
